Training Overview by Season
Spring/Summer
Our brick/mini-tri sessions have had good turnouts and happy athletes. The mini-tris have swim, bike and run in a super-sprint distance. But we also accommodate participants that want a swim-run, or run-bike, or swim-bike.

Members can attend these sessions for free. Non-members can sample the session for $5, but must become members to attend future sessions. Bring your wetsuit, bike, helmet, sunglasses and runners. We will time you and email your results. Typical distances are a 300m swim, a 10km ride, and a 2 km easy run (distances are approximate and may change with location). Good practice with some post-workout socializing.
You would like to try a triathlon, but the open water swim is too daunting? Come on out with a group of swimmers who have all been there. Open water swims are planned after work on Fridays during the summer. Plan to bring a wetsuit to one of the planned locations; Comox Lake, Goose Spit, or Wolf Lake. All levels of swimmers are encouraged to participate and we will make sure no one gets left behind. A stand-up paddle board or kayak will be present to help keep an eye on everyone plus a few big orange inflatable “swim buddies” that attach to your body will be available. Check the CV Tri Club Facebook page for specific dates, times and locations.
Held at Comox Lake, an Aussie Pursuit Mini-Sprint can be a ton of fun for everyone. A 375 m swim, either a 14.5 km road bike course or a 9.4 km mountain bike course, and then a 2.5 km trail run in the Comox Lake Park (same trails used in MOMAR). The goal is to make the finish times for everyone all close to each other as possible. So we start the old and slow first, then delay the start of the younger and faster athletes to have them chase. Plans are to hold these on on a Wednesday of every month. We’ll duly recognize everyone’s accomplishments, but the series accomplishments are what really counts.

Start time will be 6:00 pm sharp so show up at 5:30 to have lots of time to sign on, sign a waiver, get a bib number, set yourself up in transition and get your wetsuit on. Meet at the covered picnic table on the beach at the very end of the road/parking lot in the campground. Cost: free for members, $10 for non-members.
The Valley is fortunate to have an amazing choice of times, groups and interests in running. There are a number of people that organize different runs each week.
